There are ways to overcome or prevent social media addiction.. the most important one which is realizing that you have a problem and that social media is a distorted version of reality. 

The internet provides us with an overabundance of information which makes it easy to mindlessly scroll through different networks.  There are filters that can be applied that set restrictions on the time spent on a site, security restrictions and privacy features on nearly every platform.

Stay productive by not abusing social networking when work needs to be done.  It is important to prioritize and set goals in order to not let yourself fall into a six hour marathon of watching random prank videos on Youtube.

 

 

 

 

Based on your research, what action should be taken to solve/alleviate/improve the problem for your chosen topic?

Social Media has undoubtedly changed the way we function in society and the way in which we value ourselves, especially among young adults.  Social Media has proven to be addictive when misused, causing a number of health problems and general lack of self confidence.  In midst of this, social media is not going away anytime soon so we can improve the problem by staying educated about the effects of the media, showing a responsible use of social media and replacing other hobbies or activities instead of being online.
